Stem Cells
Stem cells are found in adult tissue and find application in plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures. It is possible to freeze and store your adipose-derived stem and regenerative cells (ADRC) extracted during liposuction for later use. bodySCULPT® offers you the option to bank your stem cells with BioLife Cell Bank, a Dallas-based facility that opened the first U.S. StemSource® Cell Bank. We are one of the first plastic surgery practices in Manhattan and New York City to offer this facility.
During your liposuction procedure at bodySCULPT®, our plastic surgeon will extract the adipose tissue and cells using safe and time-tested techniques. Following this, we will send the extracted fat tissue to BioLife Cell Bank where it will be processed and cryogenically preserved for future use.
Stem Cells and Their Immense Potential
Stems cells are useful in many ways. They provide a better understanding of how diseases and conditions develop and help in regenerating and repairing diseased or damaged tissues. They can also be grown to develop into new tissue for use in transplant and regenerative medicine. Plastic surgeons use stem cells in skin and fat grafting, to rebuild compound tissue loss and resolve congenital malformations, to treat acute and chronic wounds and burns, and in cosmetic surgery.
Cosmetic Procedures Performed Using Stem Cells
bodySCULPT®’s plastic surgeons use the patient’s own stem cells in several cosmetic procedures for more attractive, natural and youthful-looking results. The extracted fat is used to perform the following procedures:
- Facial rejuvenation
- Breast augmentation
- Asymmetric breast treatment
- Treatment for asymmetry after liposuction
- Brazilian butt lift
- Reconstructive surgery
- Wound care
