Your surgeon will be able to give you a good estimate of operating time during a consultation. In general, factors include how many areas are treated, the anticipated amount of fat to be removed, whether energy such as laser or ultrasound are used, and what type of anesthesia is used. For the areas you mentioned, two to three hours is typical for the operation. If done under local anesthesia, recuperation and return to work or normal activities (outside of vigorous exercise) may occur in a few days while the operation done under general anesthesia may take longer.
