Aesthetic Society: Women Accounted For 94% Of All Procedures Performed In 2021

Liposuction procedure is followed by breast augmentation and abdominoplasty. Women undergo breast augmentation for various reasons such as – to restore breast volume and firmness (lost due to weight loss, pregnancy, aging, or other reasons), correct breast asymmetry, reconstruct breasts after breast cancer/mastectomy and thus improve self-confidence. Breast augmentation is done using FDA-approved breast implants (Saline-filled implants, Silicone gel-filled implants, Gummy bear implants, and IDEAL implant) or by combining implants with fat transfer. According to the data, 148,000 women had implants removed and replaced (+32% from 2020) and 71,000 had their implants removed and not replaced (+47%). Breast augmentation is preferred by women in the 17-35 age group, and liposuction by those in the 36-50 and 51-70 age groups.
