Men and women turning to plastic surgery in New York City to enhance their appearance and confidence has surged in recent years. The Aesthetic Society’s annual Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Statistics for 2020 reveal that Americans spent more than nine billion dollars on cosmetic surgery. The US based aesthetic training organization compiled the statistics using Aesthetic Neural Network (ANN) data.
By retrieving real-time, de-identified billing data which was compiled from 288 plastic surgery practices across the US, ANN connects directly to participating Aesthetic Society member plastic surgeons’ Practice Management systems. As per the data, aesthetic plastic surgery persisted in popularity even amid the COVID-19 pandemic and as lockdown restrictions eased for non-essential services, many plastic surgeons began seeing an influx of patients seeking aesthetic plastic surgery.
President of The Aesthetic Society, Dr. Herluf G. Lund Jr explained that 2020 was a unique year and there were several factors – such as boom in video calls and more opportunity for discreet downtime – that came together to drive aesthetic surgery even during the pandemic.
